Z-87 Impact Resistant
ANSI Z-87 Standards require safety glasses to undergo a drop ball test, using a 1” diameter steel ball (weighing 2.36 oz.) dropped from a height of 50”, to measure whether the protective eyewear is appropriately impact resistant according to ANSI/ISEA standards.
Zurich International conducted an in-house drop ball compliance test on Eyeprotect19, utilizing a 1.25” diameter steel ball (weighing almost double the weight at 4.631oz.) dropped from a height of 100 inches(double the height required).* During this test, neither the lens nor the frame sustained any fracture or damage, and the temples did not detach or become dislodged from the inner surface of the frame. The test was repeated multiple times under the above stated conditions, each time generating the same result. Witnesses were present.
1. The ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2020 Standards allows for alternative measurement methods if the methods are shown to perform equivalently to the test methods referenced in the American National Standard for Occupational and Educational Personal Eye and Face Protection Devices. (ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2020, 19)
